# Get the authenticated user's Pattern Day Trader (PDT) status

> Returns the user's Pattern Day Trader (PDT) restriction status. A PDT restriction is imposed by FINRA when a margin account executes 4 or more day trades within 5 business days and the account equity falls below $25,000. Use this endpoint to decide whether to show trading or close-only restrictions in the UI for USA stocks. Does NOT modify the account or lift the restriction. PDT does not affect buying, it only restricts closing on the same day.
